Chris Lousias (Poopsi Smurf) and Louisa County
PF President Dick Grimm were big attractions in the PF dunk tank. The
event occured at the Louisa County fair in Columbus Jct., IA July ,
2003. Also in the dunk tank were Vice President Ron Cutkomp, Secretary
Ken Purdy, treasurer Steve Sents, Chad Grimm, Dr. Mike Todd, Jackie
Johnson, and Chris Lousias |
K.P. Kling and Ron Rath donated the pheasants and the hunting preserve for the Louisa County youth day at their Highland Hunting Preserve. Louisa County PF chapter members Mike Todd and Chad Grimm organized the event and PF purchased the food and shells. "Grandma" and preserve staff cooked the meals which included baked goodies, pheasant, polish saugsage and kraut. The youth enjoyed these activities: A pheasant history and habitat in Iowa given by DNR staff Bill Ohde. Gun safety, shot shell explanation, and gun mechanics given by Doug Webb. Hunter Safety instructor Larry Orr showed various guns and explained gauges. Dog breed show and tell was handled by various owners: Bill Barrick (Golden Retriever) , Al Muhlenbruck (pointing lab) , Ken Purdy (Vizsla) , Dan Vogeler ( English pointer and Chesapeke), Dick Grimm (Brittany) , Jerry Jordan (Wire Hair), K.P. King (German Short Hair). Field demonstration of how a pointer and flushing dog work on planted pheasant. B.B. gun shoot at pop cans. Trap shoot at clay birds. K.P. Kling took his two shorthairs and three youth that had passed hunter safety out for a live hunt. The youth successfully bagged several pheasants. |

![]() In a joint effort, Louisa County Pheasants Forever and Louisa
County Long Beards and Tri-Rivers Conservation Foundation donated a
combined $5500 to the Louisa County Conservation Board for a Deutz 9006
tractor. The tractor will be used to assist in native grass plantings
and other field work. The tractor can be rented for wildlife habitat
plantings by contacting the Louisa County Conservation Board at
319-523-8381. Louisa County PF donated $1000 and Louisa County Long
Beards and the National Wild Turkey Federation combined to donate
$3500. Ron Cutkomp is VP, Dick Grimm is President, Ken Purdy is Secretary, and Chad Grimm is a member of Louisa County Pheasants Forever. Mike Todd of PF was present but pictured. Mark Creery is regional director of NWTF. Charles Kerr is a Louisa County member of Long Beards and PF. Jim Rudisill is on the Tri-Rivers Conservation Foundation which also gave $1000. Frank Williams is an employee of the Conservation Board that accepted the tractor. Not pictured but present was Ken Moyer who spear headed the project. Other members of the Conservation Board present but not pictured were Gene Murray, Lee Harris and Doug Brown. |
